Welcome to our place!

Berthoud Habitat for Humanity is part of a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing worldwide.

Habitat brings together people with resources and people in need to build simple, decent, affordable houses. The homes are sold to those in need at no profit, through no-interest loans. Founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller along with his wife Linda , Habitat for Humanity has built and sold more than 125,000 houses, providing shelter for more than 625,000 people worldwide.

Our Habitat organization joins other affiliates in every state of the United States and in 87 countries around the world in accomplishing these purposes.

The 2003 “5k Run for Habitat” pronounced a huge success

Last year we had 126 entries to our race. This year we had 190 soles enter the 5k and 36 kids ran the 1k. We ran out of tank top t shirts, oranges and bagels but we did not come close to running out of excitement. The famous LDS crew manned every turn on the course and kept all the 5kers safe. Michael Hall designed all of our art work on the flyers, posters and t shirts, which were fabulously eye-catching. Chris Spitz laid out a new course, which was much more interesting to run and even got some neighbors out onto the curb. The water station was manned by the Shirley, Jesse, Tammy and Justin Almeida our partnering family, who we are extremely anxious to get them into our first Habitat home as soon as we can get water, sewer, gas, electric and phone service installed and passed by our town officials.

We raised $3,200, which we are delighted with and will greatly help us to retire some of our debt but not close to eliminating it. We have encountered engineering costs associated with the sub-division approval none of us expected. When detailed plans, papers long get changed three and four times the costs go way above any budget. So the fundraising continues relentlessly. If you can help us in any way in our quest to be debt free please contact us immediately.

Later this summer we are planning an antique tractor pull as another way to raise more funds, so badly needed and recognize that the heritage of our town is agriculture. Details are in the planning stage and when these have been firmed up we will publish them.
