Partnership Examples |
The Commitment of The Archdiocese of Denver

The Archdiocese of Denver Housing Partnership acknowledges the reality of substandard or non-existent housing for low-income people at home and abroad, along with the impact on family and community. This partnership calls Catholics to respond as Christ did by feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and offering shelter to the homeless. Through this partnership the Archdiocese joins together with others to work toward the elimination of poverty housing, the building up the dignity and sacredness of each person and the fulfillment of Catholic social teaching which calls for the most basic of human needs, including housing to provided for all people.

The Commitment of National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.
(NCCC)
Habitat for Humanity and NCCC commit themselves to collaborate in seeking ways to witness and to promulgate the ministry of Jesus to poor people and poor communities. They commit their spiritual, organizational and economic resources to work together whenever possible to multiply their capacities and overcome their deficiencies.

The Commitment of The Diocese of Pueblo
The Diocese of Pueblo formerly approved a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Mercy Housing to join together to serve the community of need through the construction of simple, decent housing for God’s people in need. The reality of substandard, or non-existent housing for low income people at home and abroad, along with the impact on family and community calls Christians and people of all faiths and conscience to respond as Christ would have us do. Through this partnership the Diocese joins together with others to work toward the elimination of poverty housing through the creation of adequate affordable housing.

The Commitment of the ELCA to Habitat for Humanity
Upon the direction of the 1995 Churchwide Assembly, the Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in 1996 approved a relationship between the ELCA and Habitat for Humanity International.
One billion people worldwide live in substandard housing, while in the United States, 30 million people live in dangerous or dilapidated dwellings. As the love of God compelled God’s Son to become a human being in order to break the bonds of sin and death, so this same love compels people baptized into Christ to seek to break bonds of human indignity by creating decent, affordable housing.
The ELCA is a strong partner with Habitat for Humanity. In 1998, over 2,300 congregations directly supported this program. They contributed thousands of hours of volunteer time and over $2.4 million in gifts. In addition, over twenty Lutheran colleges have Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapters. Various Lutheran social ministry organizations, and several state prisons, are working with Habitat affiliates
